John Sotos, MD, MS
CEO
Dr. Sotos is Chief Executive Officer of Apneos. He brings with
him a unique combination of business, clinical, and engineering skills.
Before Apneos, Dr. Sotos was part
of the founding team at Healtheon (now named WebMD), where he rose to
Chief Medical Engineer and played
key engineering, consulting, and marketing roles.
At DNA Sciences he was Principal Scientist,
initiating and managing the company's gene-sequencing program in cardiac arrhythmias.
At Johns Hopkins,
Dr. Sotos completed fellowships in transplantation cardiology and
general cardiology, as well as a residency in medicine and his M.D. degree.
He has bachelors degrees in chemistry and in mathematics from Dartmouth,
and a masters degree in computer science (artificial intelligence) from Stanford.
Dr. Sotos is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology,
a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and
the author of the classic clinical
text Zebra Cards: An Aid to Obscure Diagnosis.
John L. Branscum, Jr.
COO
John Branscum is Chief Operating Officer of Apneos. He has
15 years of Silicon Valley management experience in operations, engineering, and business development -- both in small, high-growth ventures and in large, established organizations.
In the three years before joining Apneos, Mr. Branscum directed business development for Xicom Technologies, tripling revenue and headcount. Earlier he held positions in operations and engineering management at Litton and at Varian Associates. His responsibilities included profit and loss responsibility for organizations up to $45M revenue and 400 people.
Mr. Branscum earned both a masters and a bachelors degree in physics from Dartmouth College, where his research focus was in high energy free-electron lasers.
